There was a time in our lives

when we thought of the raincloud

as omen, spoiling the day

for us to play in the open.

The rain fills the street canals like rivers.

And if it has stopped, then hurriedly,

we rip pages from our notepads

to make us- paper boats.

We were so young then.

We are fond of races. We will race to see.

Whose boat comes first crossing the finish line?

If our paper boats were like voyages

of our little dreams. Would it be?

I didn’t cross the finish line first.

As mine have wilted wet, moving slow.

I have to be content coming in

as number two, a  second placer.

You always come away as the victor

in almost every races we used to play.

We are not so young anymore.

The tough gets going and it’s me

who have stayed behind, year after year

bobbing at sea. Sailing the ocean because

I didn’t win. Crossing first the finish line.

He is a hunter

who journeyed to cross,

armed with a sword

this celestial ocean of love.

In an odyssey orbiting space

spanning lightyears

deep into the galaxy.

He navigates

on the clear night sky

pulsating with hope.

A voyage only to find

his happiness. A tryst

with the meteor showers

and constellations.

One sad winter solstice,

as he tried opening

the heaven’s gates.

He eclipsed by the moon.

Tonight, this autumn

in its equinox. The same man

keeps appearing still

on many evenings. Charting

the clear night sky, chasing

his own destiny, forever

in the afterlife marching

the procession of stars.

Love

before sunrise…

I saw you there among the horizon, peering through the breaking of the first light. That gentleness like the morning star had me longing for more.  More of you from the previous night. Let me embrace you like the feathery clouds in their afterglow. How serene am I in your bosom. Not a care in this world.

in the harborfront…

I am here standing at the boardwalk. Waiting for your ship to come. With the seagulls hovering above me and the seawaves frolicking along the breakwater. I have been here since your last voyage. Of chasing your dream and your freedom. But I have learned to let you go, and learned how to have hope. That you will come back to me. You will.  And I am waiting still.

across the desert…

Like how the wind shapes the dunes, so your tenderness. Lovely as your affection embrace me in the moonlight. A thousand and one nights of dream. We are sharing the stars and the Orion guides us to discover the many secrets of our togetherness. I will sit here with you and let the wind softly whisper my heart’s song.

driving down the mountain…

Lovers we are among the long grass. I am driving down this maze, of finding a way to your heart.  Keep you lingering in my mind and I never stop from wondering.  Upon these rocks, the many faces of love etched by time. And stood witness to my deep devotion to you. I shouted your name out in the cliffs, and it echoes and created a lover’s melody.

watching the sunset…

Why do I feel sad, whenever the sun bades goodbye?  Why do I feel sad when the sun finally vowed out among the ridge in the distance? Am I afraid that the memory of you will also leave me too soon? Even if I tried to stop the hands of time from turning, I am in my sweet surrender.  But I know, that someday, in another time, in another place, there will be you and me.  I know that even if it’s not me who is there with you, I will always wanted what makes you happy.  And it is enough that I have loved you the way I could.

September will leave me

with the aroma of this earth,

and the patch of grass

signals the equinox of life.

In a nostalgic note of melancholy

as the raven standing by

lulling me a dirge

of last summer symphony.

Soon, forest fingers will be cold  as ice.

Sheathed in layers and layers

of the old northwest wind.

Like pirates of the high seas

going home to anchor their ships

to end its once imperial voyage.

September will leave me

as the spring blossoms cease

its immaculate sheen.

Amidst the falling

golden hairs of the arbor.

Until another coming

of summer solstice.

And the oceans will slowly

dampen its warm embrace.
